The Hood River waterfront recreation beaches and parks are effectively shrinking as high water levels in the Columbia River climb higher up the shoreline. The spring runoff is causing high water levels throughout the Columbia/Snake River system, but local concerns are focused on water safety in the run up to Memorial Day weekend.

The Port of Hood River Commission has approved a parking management plan for Port-owned portions of the Hood River waterfront to be implemented this summer. The plan addresses Port goals to manage limited parking efficiently, encourage turnover at specific locations, and provide new resources for the ongoing maintenance of Port-owned waterfront parks and open spaces. Port staff will provide an informational overview of the plan which includes the installation of new paid parking meters on the east and west blocks of Portway Avenue, N. 1st Street, the west Jensen lot, and Nichols Basin. Public input will be invited on the plan and implementation details that are not yet finalized.

2018 South Basin Dock Seasonal Moorage Lottery
The Port of Hood River will advertise and hold a public lottery for five (5) seasonal slips on the South Basin Dock for the period of May 1, 2018 through October 31, 2018. Successful applicants accepting a slip will pay a one-time fee of $750.00 along with a $50 refundable gate key deposit. Payment for a seasonal slip and key deposit will be made to the Port of Hood River.
